CONCEPTUAL STAGE

Working on head peice shapes and forms. i want to make it quite natural, and flow nicely.
so i went with the bottom right hand corner picture. where i will develop it from there.
i will make it either from solidworks and 3d print in white, or lathe it with wood.

Here i was toying with how i will place my light in my lamp, as i want to make my light my switch as well. so i was taking the concepet of the mac charger of how it connects together. im not sure about this concept.

this will be my chosen concept towards placing the light peice/switch into the head peice. i will screw wit in. inspiration from putting my milk lid back on to the carton. this way i will still be able to hold my form, and make it easy to make.
This will definetly be done with solidworks and 3d printed on the uprinter. so i can get good groves so that it actually srews in.

this is also ideal as i will easly be able to inter-change batteries.

Here i was actually figuring out the electrical configuration. i want to use three LEDs, as my light source, which will be actiavted by pressing this light source. this will be done by having 3aaa bateries as the supply, and haveing the three leds in series, with a small button in the centre as the switch for on and off, hich will connect the circuit.

i will overlay a piece over the leds, so that leds are showing, and when this presses downwardsit will click the button and activate the light.

i will place small springs in the opposite formation of the LEDS.

I will get into solidworks and show how this will work (hopefully) haha

PRECEDANTS!!!

In all honesty, i choose these lamps because im pretty much over the look and basic function of my convention desk lamp. So with that in mind, im observing the use of there designated functions that each individual lamp. each are unique in their own way. This is portrayed through how they have used thier selected material, to how the operation of lamp moves and activates
im going to take a new approach to one of parts to redeisgn.

DIS ASSEMBLY PHASE!

After i dis- assembled my lamp, i was surprised by how many components there were inside. and how much was concealed by other parts.

MY DESK LAMP!

What changes im going to do to the lamp. Im going to change the head piece, base, and the switch. This will be done by a change of form and shape, to the material and the function.

INDN 212 Project one- part A REDESIGN

INDN 212 Project one- part A REDESIGN

In this project we are to select a lighting device, analyse its details of outside and inside,
discover how the components are related each other to form the product as a whole.

We are to explore how design affects human-product interactions, and redesign it by utilising the findings so
that the modified product will have a different set of visual, tactile, emotional, mechanical and
functional elements.

SO after much consideration of many variations of lights, whilst being restricted by not using the mains power source, ive decided to go with the conventional desk lamp. i think that a desk lamp can have many significant but good effective changes depending on what type of desk lamp that you are redesigning.

INDN 212 PRODUCT BASED EXPERIMENTS

INDN 212 PRODUCT BASED EXPERIMENTS

INDN 212 provides an intense focus on conceptual and and practical aspects of design language through experiments with components and products and exploring further applications of design in the real world. The course introduces the notion that design affects the surrounding people and environment as an epicenter.
