Project 2. Design for the Real World
Project 2. Design for the Real World
design may be a preventive/protective device that actively intervenes in a potentially dangerous situation and reduces/eliminates the extent/probability of the damaging result (e.g., seat belt), or an indicative/warning device that provides an easily noticeable alert/information in a proactive/timely manner (e.g., fire alarm). It can be an innovatively improved product (e.g., safe syringe) or a radically new suggestion (e.g., inflatable helmet), but, in any case, it must be a novel, effective and efficient brainchild based on a design opportunity you found from an extensive yet intensive investigation. Note that the definition of "safety" in this project may be a bit comprehensive. In addition to its "common meaning", the term here may also be understood as hygiene, security or even peace of mind in some contexts.
